The Social Support Fund (FAS), the Angolan institution in charge of implementing the local development project funded by the European Union and managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIAP), makes public the new initiatives implemented within the framework of the project.
One of the initiatives presented was a training workshop for Angolan journalists from different public and private media outlets.
Thirty-six journalists from various provinces of Angola attended a two-day workshop to learn how the project works.
The course, given by the Training Centre for Journalists (CEFOJOR), addressed subjects such as the historical trajectory of FAS, the focus of its development policies, and the role of the main collaborating partners in the project.
The opening ceremony for the workshop included the participation of Deputy Provincial Governor of Technology and Infrastructure Victor Moita, who highlighted the main objectives of the project: to increase the capacity of companies for creating jobs and improve the living conditions of the population.
For his part, National Information Director Rui Vasco, from the Ministry of Social Communication, highlighted the ‘importance of using the knowledge acquired during the training for media coverage of the project instead of propagandistic coverage’.
Another of the project’s initiatives was the construction of a health clinic and a residence for nurses in the community of Ndonji Tchiena, located in the province of Lunda Sul. This will improve the quality of life of the population of Ndonji Tchiena by eliminating the need to travel 70 kilometres to reach the nearest health clinic.
The inaugural event was led by Lunda Sul’s Vice President for Policy and Social, António Teixeira Jorge.
