The European Union and the Caribbean are working to improve emergency prevention, mitigation and response.
Three European cities (Bonn, Brussels, and Barcelona). A delegation of 30 people from the Caribbean, including Ministers, regional representatives national disaster risk management entities, and universities. Public institutions and private companies are involved in this global challenge, from disaster prevention to reconstruction. This was the sum of forces that, from February 9 to 13, sparked dialogue, alliances, and knowledge exchange.
The study visit, sponsored by the European Union and facilitated by the Foundation for the Internationalization of Public Administrations (FIAP), was an intense and fruitful journey through the latest technological, political and logistical initiatives for disaster risk management.
The week-long tour allowed participants to see first-hand what Europe can offer in this space and identify together with European public and private sector, actions and investments to advance disaster preparedness and response in mutual interest of the Caribbean and the European Union. This is the spirit of Global Gateway, the European Union’s strategic investment initiative for sustainable infrastructure projects worldwide.
