The European Union values cooperation initiatives in the areas of security, territorial governance, development and community resilience.
The European Union Ambassador to Senegal, Jean-Marc Pisani, visited the regions of Tambacounda and Kédougou, in eastern and north-eastern Senegal, together with representatives from several Member States on a joint ‘Team Europe’ mission.
The aim of this visit was to follow up and highlight the cooperation initiatives promoted by the European Union in the area, particularly in the fields of security, territorial governance, development and community resilience.
The delegation included ambassadors from countries such as Germany, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, Austria and Finland, as well as representatives from France and Ireland.
They visited a number of projects, including some developed by Germany and Belgium focusing on agriculture and education.
In addition, institutional coordinator Mario Farnós and field coordinator General Emmanuel Gerber welcomed and accompanied the delegation on a visit to the European GARSI project.

In the Kédougou region, the delegation had the opportunity to visit the GARSI unit in Kidira, which was created during the first phase of the project. They subsequently expressed their admiration for the Senegalese National Gendarmerie’s ownership of the project, as it manages the unit entirely.
In Saraya, participants visited the GARSI unit, created during the second phase of the project, where they were welcomed by Captain Sall of the Senegalese National Gendarmerie, who gave a tour of the facilities and thanked FIAP for its collaboration. Attendees were able to tour the site, observe some of the equipment and see the positive impact of the project, as well as the strong relationships established with the National Gendarmerie.
The mission has left a clear impression: European cooperation in Senegal not only strengthens the security and development of local civil society, but also reinforces the bonds of trust and collaboration between European and Senegalese institutions.
