Through the EUROsociAL programme, the FIAP and the Spanish ESC supported the creation of the Network of Economic and Social Councils of Latin America and the Caribbean (CESALC) with similar experiences in Europe.
The Third International Forum of Economic and Social Councils took place in Jalisco (Guadalajara, Mexico). The meeting highlighted the need for the Network of Latin American and Caribbean Economic and Social Councils (CESALC), supported by EUROsociAL through its Social Dialogue area, led by FIIAPP.
Among the specific objectives of the Network’s establishment is to create an environment for dialogue that allows for the exchange of experiences and debates on national and international issues and their impact on Latin America.
Ignacio Soleto, FIAP program coordinator, stated that EUROsociAL seeks to promote social cohesion in Latin America by supporting reforms already underway, working from the perspective of demand, and emphasized the collaboration between European and Latin American ESCs.
For his part, Juan Garay (DUE Mexico) highlighted that the Mexico-European Union working group seeks to define proposals for improved cooperation between the two parties. Its objective is to strengthen civil society so that it has the capacity for dialogue and influence in the public policy process.
