FIAP has convened more than 100 representatives of institutions at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation in the IV edition of the Public Talent for the World event, which this year has focused on the defense of multilateralism.
For the fourth consecutive year, more than one hundred representatives of administrations met this afternoon at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation in the Plaza Marqués de Salamanca, to share the achievements of their international cooperation and highlight the work of nearly 700 civil servants who have shared knowledge and experience with counterparts from other countries over the past year.
“To the beat of multilateralism” was the theme of this year’s event, which sought to highlight the contribution that public technical cooperation, directly between institutions, makes to sustainable development through the creation and strengthening of public systems (laws, institutions, institutional capacities).
The event was opened by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, during which the experience of public cooperators such as judges, civil servants specialized in youth policies or sustainable management of natural resources, police officers and civil guards was shared in first person. The event was also attended by the Director for the Americas of the European External Action Service of the EU, the Secretary of State for Public Administration and the Director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation.
This event organized by FIAP has already become a recurring event to give visibility to the international cooperation of public administrations, a major tool of foreign action and cooperation of our country.
During 2024, FIAP worked with a total of 1,070 public institutions (142 from Spain and 928 from the rest of the world) and 80 international organizations.
Representing Spanish public talent, 698 civil servants participated in 2024 in international cooperation projects managed by FIAP, appointed by their home administrations. Sixty-one did so by working permanently on projects (47 as seconded personnel in 20 countries), and 637 did so on short-term missions.
FIAP implemented a total of 113 projects during 2024, the vast majority of which were delegated European cooperation and twinning or twinning funded by the European Union. Peace building, green economy and just transition, justice and rule of law, digitalization and social policies were the main areas of cooperation in which the Foundation mobilized the public talent of the General State Administration, Autonomous Communities, local authorities and the judiciary, among others.
