A study visit by a delegation from Morocco’s Department of Youth to Spain to learn about different youth initiatives and policies has concluded.
For one week, 12 representatives from the Moroccan Department of Youth exchanged experiences on youth policies with the Ministry of Equality, the Ministry of Culture, ONCE and the Fuenlabrada City Council.
This exchange, carried out within the framework of the European twinning project with the Government of Morocco, coordinated by FIAP, led by the Generalitat of Catalonia and with the participation of the Junta de Andalucía, has strengthened cooperation between both countries on youth matters with the aim of improving organizational and institutional capacities for coordination and convergence, through the exchange of good practices and the successful adaptation of youth policies to the reality of Morocco.
The Moroccan delegation had a full agenda in which they learned about initiatives such as the European Youth Card and European programmes like Erasmus+; others such as the Ministry of Culture’s Youth Cultural Voucher; and a wide range of gender- and youth-focused policies, programmes and services from the Ministry of Equality. They also explored the vocational training, employment and entrepreneurship programmes led by ONCE for women and young people with disabilities.
In addition, during the visit, the delegation learned how Spain encourages the participation of young people in European institutions, as well as successful examples such as the citizen participation policies of the Fuenlabrada City Council.
Twinning projects are a tool of the European Commission to strengthen the public administrations of beneficiary countries. In this case, the exchange of experiences and knowledge between Morocco and Spain has focused on sharing good practices and enriching youth policies.
