The European Joint Operational Partnership (JOP) project in Senegal has organised a visit to Spanish police headquarters.
For a week, a delegation from the Senegalese Border Police Directorate (DPAF) visited various specialised units of the National Police with the aim of exchanging practical experiences in border control and operational mobility management.
The visit was organised within the framework of the European POC Senegal project and gave the Senegalese delegation the opportunity to carry out a comparative analysis of organisational, logistical and training aspects relating to the functioning of the different units, such as the mobile border unit, a vehicle designed to deploy full document verification and identification capabilities outside authorised crossing points.
They also had the opportunity to visit the International Cooperation Division (DCI) and the General Commissariat for Immigration and Borders (CGEF), as well as the Headquarters of the Police Intervention Units (JUIP), the Illegal Immigration Response Brigade (BRIC) and the National Police Academy in Ávila (ENP).
The specific objective of the POC Senegal project is to strengthen the capacities of the internal security forces in terms of prevention, intelligence and the fight against illicit trafficking at the border and organised crime, including the smuggling of migrants, human trafficking and terrorism in Senegal.
This visit is therefore part of the cooperation between counterpart administrations aimed at strengthening institutional capacities and developing tools adapted to the Senegalese context within a comprehensive border management approach, contributing to safer, more orderly and regular mobility management.
