The workshop brought together participants from 12 African countries and was supported by four international experts, including representatives from CEPOL and the National Police.
As part of its longstanding collaboration with African Union Police Cooperation Mechanism (AFRIPOL) and the African Union Counter-Terrorism Centre (AUCTC), the CT JUST project with the support of European Union Police Training Agency (CEPOL), has organised a regional workshop on optimising e-learning platforms for the training of counter-terrorism investigators. The event, which took place in Algiers, underlined the shared commitment to innovative, resilient and accessible capacity building.
In a region where geography, security concerns and limited resources slow down any progress, e-learning presents itself as a strategic solution: it connects knowledge to those who need it most, instantly, securely and at scale.
From AI-enhanced simulations and personalised learning paths, to training of trainers and real-time collaborations, this workshop has explored how digital tools can transform counterterrorism investigation across the African continent. It has established a module to train 12-15 specialised trainers. In addition, it has strengthened understanding of online course development and delivery. It has also achieved a strong consensus on ethical standards, data protection and human rights safeguards, as well as a shared vision for a harmonised and sustainable e-learning framework.
The workshop was supported by four international experts, including representatives of CEPOL and the Spanish National Police. It also brought together participants from 12 African countries, representing North, West, and East Africa.
