A Moldovan delegation visits Spain to learn about tools and methodologies that can support the modernisation of its institutions.
As a candidate country for accession to the European Union, Moldova is working to bring its legislation and institutions into line with EU standards. Strengthening the labour inspection system is a key part of this process, aimed at ensuring compliance with labour rights and improving working conditions.
In this context, a high-level delegation from the Republic of Moldova visited Spain this week to learn about the functioning of the Spanish labour inspection system and to make progress in modernising its own State Labour Inspectorate.
The Moldovan delegation was led by the State Secretary of the
Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Moldova, Mihai-Gabriel Ciobanu, and comprised officials from the country’s State Labour Inspectorate. Over five days, they held technical and institutional meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy, the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate, FIAP and other key players in the Spanish system.
“The exchange with Spanish institutions has enabled us to learn about very valuable tools and methodologies to further strengthen our labour inspection system. Cooperation with Spain and the European Union is essential to advance the modernisation of our institutions and our alignment with European standards,” stated Mihai-Gabriel Ciobanu, State Secretary at the Moldovan Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.
The visit is taking place as part of a Twinning project funded by the European Union and led by FIAP, in collaboration with Spanish and Slovak institutions, to strengthen the capacities of the Moldovan State Labour Inspectorate and support its alignment with European labour standards.
“Sharing experiences and tools among European public administrations is essential for moving towards more effective,
modern inspection systems focused on the protection of labour rights. This visit has provided an opportunity to showcase the work carried out by the Spanish Labour and Social Security Inspectorate and to strengthen institutional cooperation with Moldova,” said Cristina Fernández, Director-General of the State Labour and Social Security Inspectorate (OEITSS).
The programme included sessions on risk-based inspection planning, combating undeclared work, training for inspectors, technological tools, data analysis and institutional communication, as well as field visits in Madrid and Seville.
