The launch of the project included a panel dedicated to the challenges of undeclared work, child labour and labour exploitation.
Chișinău, the Moldovan capital, has hosted the launch of a European project to modernise labour inspection. The project, implemented as a Twinning initiative, will work with the Moldovan State Labour Inspectorate.
For two years, the project to modernise labour inspection will work to strengthen the institutional capacities of the State Labour Inspectorate and thus ensure the enforcement of labour standards in the Republic of Moldova in line with European Union best practices. The project is being carried out in collaboration with Spain and Slovakia, the EU Member States participating as partners in the European consortium.
The launch event made it possible to raise awareness among stakeholders, showcase the purpose of the project and present its objectives and expected results. It also hosted a public debate to spark interest and enthusiasm among the Moldovan population and to strengthen the visibility of EU–Republic of Moldova cooperation. A shared understanding of the project’s objectives and reinforced collaboration between the State Labour Inspectorate, the EU partners (Slovakia and Spain) and the various stakeholders is expected to be achieved.
During the event, round tables and thematic panels fostered the exchange of ideas between Spanish, Slovak and Moldovan specialists. Among other topics, they focused on challenges such as tackling undeclared work, child labour and labour exploitation. Finally, participants were able to present overall conclusions and discuss how the project can address the issues raised during the debates.
