The fight against organised crime in Jordan

Geographically, Jordan occupies a key position in the Middle East, as it shares borders with Syria, Iraq, Israel and Saudi Arabia, and acts as a hub connecting Europe, Asia and Africa. Whilst this strategic location offers opportunities for regional cooperation, it also makes Jordan vulnerable to transnational organised crime, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, cybercrime and financial crime, which are exacerbated by the region’s geopolitical instability.

This project is a twinning initiative funded by the European Union, aimed at strengthening Jordan’s capacity to combat transnational organised crime effectively, with a focus on improving the operational capabilities of the Public Security Directorate (PSD).

This project is in line with the External Action Strategy of the
Government of Spain.

Project objectives

General

To strengthen Jordan’s national resilience in the face of transnational organised crime.

Specific

To enhance the capacity of the Public Security Directorate (DSP) to combat transnational organised crime effectively, in line with international and European best practice.
